❄️ How to Tell If You Have COOL Undertones (Without the Wrist Test)

If you’ve been told to look at the veins on your wrist to find your undertone, you can skip that step. Veins do not predict undertone. This is outdated and inaccurate information. Undertones are the muted colors that lie subtly beneath the skin’s surface. They never change. While the skin above the surface may change due to sun exposure or flushing (that is your overtone), your undertone is always going to be the same.

Signs You May Have Cool Undertones

1. The T-Shirt Test
When you hold up a white shirt and a cream shirt, the white shirt looks much better next to your skin.

2. Warm makeup looks off
Foundations labeled warm or golden turn orange, yellow, or muddy on your skin.

3. Blue-based colors look balanced
Berry lips, blue-red lipstick, and cool pink blushes look natural rather than harsh.

4. High contrast tends to suit you
Black, crisp white, jewel tones, and cool grays make your skin look clear and energized.

5. Warm bronzer is tricky
Many bronzers pull too orange or exaggerate redness.

6. Silver wins out the gold vs. silver jewelry test
When you test gold and silver jewelry against your face, silver looks much better with your skin.

7. You burn easily.
If you burn easily or always burn before you tan, you more than likely have cool undertones.

Bottom line:
If cool-toned makeup consistently looks more natural and warmth overwhelms your skin, you likely have cool undertones.
